Paddington Gold Mine
Norton Goldfields is the owner of Paddington Gold mine, located 35 km north of Kalgoorlie. Mining Operations began in 1985. Currently, Norton Goldfields has an intended mine life of more than 10 years and operates across a broad tenement package with over 80 identified potential prospects.
What did we do for the Paddington Gold Mine?
In late 2023, Norton Goldfields approached MBS Environmental to undertake a Hydrochemical Impact Assessment in conjunction with AQ2. The purpose was to investigate the potential for leaching and impact to groundwater from black shale/low grade ore material stockpiled on a waste rock dump. As part of the work, MBS Environmental undertook the following:
- Brief sampling and analysis plan of samples required (collected by client) from the waste rock dump stockpiles.
- Submission for analysis of geochemical properties of the composited samples.
- Collation and interpretation of laboratory assessed samples collected and tested.
- Examination of evidence for current seepage impacts.
- Analysis of site groundwater monitoring bore data, including the identification of trends in groundwater chemistry and water levels over time.
- Mapping of groundwater contours to determine direction of flow.
- Provision of a report outlining interpretation of results, risk assessment and suggestions for future management and monitoring.
