Billabong Gold Project

The Plutonic Gold Mine is owned and operated by Catalyst Metals Ltd. The Project is in the Shire of Meekatharra in the Murchison Region of Western Australia and is located approximately 950 km north of Perth, near Kumarina. The Project is a brownfields project that commenced production in 1990 and currently comprises open cut and underground pits, a processing plant, gas power station, waste rock dumps, tailings storage facilities, accommodation village, airstrip and other ancillary supporting infrastructure. Ore extraction is currently occurring from the underground operations only.

MBS Environmental (MBS) was commissioned in 2022 to undertake environmental monitoring and reporting as stipulated by existing approvals, to ensure ongoing environmental compliance.

 

Billabong Gold Project Assistance:

  • Day-to-day advice to operational queries.
  • Workplace, facility and non-compliance audits and inspections.
  • Incident reporting and corrective actions.
  • Attendance at site meetings.
  • Annual compliance reporting, including:
    • DWER Annual Environmental Reporting.
    • DEMIRS Annual Environmental Reporting.
    • Groundwater Monitoring Summary Reports.
    • Groundwater Abstraction Reporting.
    • Environmental Compliance Reports.
    • National Pollutant Inventory Reporting.
  • Environmental monitoring including:
    • Discharge and abstraction rates, standing water levels, in-field and laboratory chemical analysis for production bores, TSF Bores, dewatering circuit and WWTP.
    • Maintenance of the water monitoring database such as data entry of field sheets and laboratory analysis results.
    • Maintenance of waste facility register.
    • Vegetation health and weed monitoring.
    • Vegetation health and landform condition photo monitoring.
