MBS Environmental was commissioned by Hesketh Quarry’s to prepare a revised Mine Closure Plan (MCP) for the Hesketh Yornup Quarry located approximately 240 km south of Perth, between Bridgetown and Manjimup in the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes.  Yornup Quarry has been approved, but has not yet commenced mining. It is located within and completely surrounded by Yornup State Forest, home to a number of conservation significant flora and fauna.

Much of the approved mining area was previously disturbed from mining undertaken in the 1980’s and 1990’s and Hesketh Quarry’s requested assistance from MBS for the preparation of a revised MCP which:

• Addressed comments made by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) on the previous MCP.
• Updated the MCP in line with the updated Statutory Guidelines for Mine Closure Plans (DMIRS 2020).
• Updated spatial data and relevant baseline information that had been collected since the previous MCP submissions.
• Provided preliminary closure designs for closure and rehabilitation
