Recycled Water Quality Management Plan
A waste water treatment plant (WWTP) was being constructed as part of the support infrastructure for the Project. Given the water supply challenges and desire to maximise water reuse, recycling of treated waste water was required.
MBS provided a Recycled Water Quality Management Plan for submission to Department of Health (DoH) for approval. This was tailored to suite the desired re-use of the water versus the associated health risk assessment process required by DoH. It allowed for reuse of treated water for dust suppression on roads, re-use in ore processing activities and/or disposal of within the Tailings Stroage facility or onto land irrigation.
As part of preparation of the RWQMP, MBS completed a land capability assessment and environmental risk assessment for the proposed re-use options. This included soil testing for soil capacity assessments for nutrient retention, determination of suitable application rates for dust suppression, assessment of long-term soil contamination risks considering salinity and nutrient impacts and development of a water balance
