The Tropicana Joint Venture was formed between AngloGold Ashanti Australia Limited (70% and manager) and Independence Group NL (30%) in 2001. After approval in November 2010, mining commenced in mid-2012 and plant commissioning commenced in the second half of 2013. In full scale operation, Tropicana will be one of the top five gold mines in Australia.
MBS has assisted AngloGold since 2008 with:
- Compilation of baseline surveys.
- Environmental approvals.
- Onsite environmental management support during construction.
- Development of construction compliance documentation during the commissioning phase.
