Reminder: Changes to WA Government Department Structures

Just a reminder that as of 1 July 2017 a number of changes to WA Government Department structures have been implemented. Expect changes to government department websites and email addresses in the near future.

Changes of interest to the environmental and mining sectors include:

  • New Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety – incorporates the previous Department of Mines and Petroleum and parts of the previous Department of Commerce.
  • New Department of Water and Environmental Regulation – incorporates the previous Office of Environmental Protection Authority, Department of Environment Regulation and Department of Water.
  • The previous Department of Parks and Wildlife is now incorporated into the new Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions.
  • The previous Department of State Development is now incorporated into the new Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.

The Director General of the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is Mike Rowe (previously director general of Department of Water). The Director General of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is Mark Webb.
